Cairo 2050 Plan

The Greater Cairo Region (GCR) with a population of 20 million is a large urban area comprising of Cairo, Giza, Qalyobiya, Helwan, Sixth October and the eight new urban communities. With its unique political and cultural significance and history, it is a global destination for many tourists.

Cairo 2050 Plan is an effort to reimagine GCR with a goal to foster sustainable urban development, increase its global and regional competitiveness, strengthen global linkages, integrate existing and new urban communities and encourage participation of all stakeholders in the planning process.

“As with other mega-cities, GCR is the prime engine of economic growth and the main population center in Egypt. Yet, this note comes with many key challenges; most importantly planning, infrastructure and service delivery which has been managed to barely keep up with the very rapid urban growth over the past four decades.”

 

القاهرة 2050 خطة زيادة القاهرة المنطقة (اليوناني) يبلغ عدد سكانها 20 مليون هو وضع منطقة حضرية كبيرة تتألف من القاهرة، الجيزة، قاليوبييا، حلوان، السادس من تشرين الأول/أكتوبر وفي المجتمعات العمرانية الجديدة ثمانية.  مع الأهمية السياسية والثقافية الفريدة والتاريخ، من وجهة عالمية للكثير من السياح. خطة القاهرة عام 2050 هو محاولة reimagine المجلس اليوناني للاجئين بهدف تعزيز التنمية الحضرية المستدامة، زيادة قدرته على المنافسة العالمية والإقليمية، وتعزيز الروابط العالمية ودمج المجتمعات الحضرية القائمة والجديدة وتشجيع مشاركة جميع أصحاب المصلحة في عملية التخطيط.
